Midnight's Poetry Muse

Calling all poets!

Hello Everyone,

I haven't seen much activity on this site lately. I can see why. I am not worried. I know that there will be poets that will post their work here. Even in the slow times. The podcast will still go on. I can still read old poems that were not featured yet.

I have nothing much to say myself, except that I am still on the looking for a job vacation. I know that it will not succeed until August and/or September.

Oh, I know that the US is celebrating the 4th of July. I've been to the Canada Day celebrations two days ago. Now Calgary is celebrating the Stampede. You might have to Google the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede because it is something that I got tired of. Or rather Google the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede for more information. All I can tell you that Calgary, being a big oil city, only have fun for 10 days out of a whole year. What's that fun, we dress up as cowboys and girls, go to the bars, and get rid of our inhibitions. Oops, that is not the Stampede, that is what happens in the city bars when the Stampede goes on. The Stampede is basically a cross between a fair and a rodeo. However, most people would rather go to the bars. The Stampede is more of a family with small children and thrill seeking teenagers type of event.

That reminds me of an article that I have just read where there are some married Calgarians that forget that, during the Stampede, forget that they are married and drink and unexpectly (Or expectedly) cheat on their spouse. There is a 40% raise in divorces after the Stampede.

I've never gone to the bars during the Stampede and I never will. For one, I cannot stand listening to Country and Western music. I love all types of music except Country and Western. I remember going to a bar that I have never been too (Someone invited me), only to want to leave the second that I got in.

By the way the only rock band that ever came from Calgary (Or rather from a small town, close to Calgary, in Alberta) is Nickelback. You can laugh at the last sentence if you want, I'm not a big fan of them. However, a few of their songs are okay.

Anyway, enough of me rambling on.

Sincerely,
Midnight Starr

Loretta,

I keep on forgetting that it is winter right now in Australia. Ahh, the differences between the Hemispheres.

Well I am sitting by my fire enjoying the depths of winter - the weather is wild and it is snowing in the mountains. Mind you Rod will tell you otherwise but his is a couple of 1000 kms to the north where it never really gets cold.
