I wrote this poem after reading a chapter in You Can Heal Your Life
by Louise L. Hay.
Responsibilites
Bills have to be paid
Work has to be done
Then there's boredom.
Boredom numbed by TV
Boredom numbed by the Internet
Boredom numbed by shopping
Boredom numbed by drinking
Boredom numbed by eating
Boredom numbed by being busy.
Where's the time
When we were all free
To have fun
Now it's all gone.
The so-called recession is here
The excuse to jump on the bandwagon
Of saving money and lay offs.
To lay some off
Over work others
Send the jobs overseas
And pay poorly
That recession
Is an extended vacation
More work to get educated
And to find work.
A vacation
Should be rejuvenation
No alienation
Or starvation
To relax
To rethink
To pretend to be a fairy
To pretend to be a queen
To be a child again.
