The Other Point Of View (Rough Draft)

This poem was about a conversation that I had with someone who used to work for the same company that I am currently working for. If you cannot understand a line, please let me know. I'll explain it.

An interesting conversation
About the company I work for
You did too
It's on your resume.

You mention the reason why you left
You being a humanitarian
Your boss was materialistic
I, the devil's advocate.

The situation you mentioned
A plane crash, the pilot died
The plane carried bundles of… Continue

The January Podcast being Exclusively through Skype.

Hello All,

I still haven't received any word as to what you all think about doing an entire podcast where you all read your poems through Skype. I don't have a deadline for the response. I just want to know.

I wish that my employers will let me take a break and let me right a poem when I am at work, but I can't. I think that I did have an idea for a poem. Plus working nights and sleeping in late will make a poet dead tired. Now I'm giving other poets some ideas for a poem. LOL.

Sincerely,
Mid… Continue

Those Internet Gifts.

Hello Everyone,

I think that it is a great idea that Ning has just introduced. You can now send those computer gifts to whomever has a poem that you like. That's why I did with Rod's poem "Now." I gave him a microphone icon. These gifts do have points to them too. But it's not the points that count. It's just a nice jester anyway. What do you all think of this idea?

Midnight' sBirthday

Hello Everyone,

Since there wasn't much poetry writing, I still ended up with a podcast.

In this month's podcast we have:

1. Missed Opportunity - Unspoken
2. After Autumn - Makar
3. Now - Rod Moffat

Since the winner of last month's best poem didn't pick the winner, I had to do it and this month's best poem winner is... Rod Moffat with his poem "Now."

I also have a question about changing the format of the podcast. I wanted to do it totally using Skype. I can record live conversations using… Continue

Got an idea for the next podcast.

Hello Everyone,

Since this website has been slow since September, I just thought of another idea on how to get the podcast moving again.

I was thinking that I should record all of you reading your own poems via Skype. There is a way for me do that. Now the challenge is time zones. I know that there are some of you that are from Australia.

Let me know what you all think of this idea.

Sincerely,
Midnight Starr

Hi Midnight Starr

Thank you for reading the poems. Halloween read better than I expected it to. When I work out how I will send you a couple of recordings to use.

Rick's song was great - added variety.

Midnight Starr, I have available to me for a limited amount of time an Audacity podcasting kit... I can record in three types of files... Audacity file, MP3 file and Wave file. I need an e-mail adress that supports files, not just text, to be able to send them to you. Then I also need to know which type of file you would prefer me to send them to you in.

This site is great! Thank you for your time and creativity in making this an enjoyable place.

Sincerely, Mindy

Hi Midnight Starr

I have been reading and re-reading a number of your posts - those most personal and those that relate to you horrific experience as a young girl.

It is with sorrow I read. I can only identify in part as it was not until I was an adult that I encountered and experienced forced attentions. I had by then at least some mental defences to protect me.

I sense there is much, however, that you have yet to express; that being the depth of trauma to mind, soul, spirit. It is alluded to but I feel it is only touching the surface of your pain.

I, like many, write as self expression in troublesome situations (When night ends is an example). For me it is an expression of what I was feeling rather than an account of what was happening. For others they write an account.

One of the mediation techinques I do has a ritual where Qigong is used to generate the Chi energy bubble into which is placed the emotions, situation etc. Holding it at the chakra for the string of souls, mediate on others who have suffered as you have, bring them into the healing power. The hard part, bringing the perpetrators in as well. Offering forgiveness to yourself and to others releasing the bubble to the universe.

In terms of expressing yourself, perhaps you might try a haiku for each element. The focus on 3 lines of 5,7,5 syllables, each line an independent thought but the whole one theme, might help you to crystalise the emotions attached, particularly if you do the meditation first.

Here a couple of mine about an incident

Filthy hands groping
No scrubbing will purify
Defiled enraged

Bestiality
Narcissistic intercourse
Violate debase

As I said I was at least an adult and I think my rage sustained me.

Hi Midnight

The site is certainly taking off - you are to be congratulated!

Replying to the question of more forum categories:

Would it be possible to have a nonsense or humorous forum?
Maybe a Spiritual forum? or human emotions?

I notice too that many poems are about personal experience or nature; would these be good forum topics?

I know you have sections for teenage and children writers but is it possible to have a children's forum (ie written for children)?

I wonder if Haiku and Tanka could be merged into Japanese form poetry as they are not being used much yet - though I intend to try.

Anyway just some thoughts - you might want to ask the other members what they think about the ideas.

Loretta
